"The Dean" shares whether it's a good idea to apply to a major that doesn't interest you if there's a chance it may help your admission odds. https://www.collegeconfidential.com/articles/will-a-nursing-school-application-open-a-back-door-to-georgetown/

If the actual desired major is harder to get into, changing into it after enrolling may be difficult or competitive.

Also, nursing is typically one of the more competitive majors at many colleges.

This story is very specific to Georgetown and Nursing and does not discuss the pitfalls of using a 'side door' or 'back door' major for college admission.

If you cannot gain admission to your preferred major based on your merit and also the competition, it's probably not meant to be. Best to move on to a school/major that will welcome you based on your hard work.
