Is there any way to help my chances of getting off the waitlist?

Hello!
I recently got waitlisted at Santa Cruz, which was my dream school! I decided to send an appeal, even though I know my chances of getting accepted are low, but does anyone know of any other ways I could possibly increase my chances of getting in? I really really want to go to Santa Cruz and I have several reasons as to why I should go there. Thank you!

    From the UC website:
For students who were offered and accepted a space on a waitlist at one of the campuses, can they do anything to increase their chances of selection? Are students ranked?

Whether or not a campus will offer admission to students on a waitlist depends on a number of factors, including the number of students initially offered admission who accept a space by the Statement of Intent to Register (SIR) deadline (May 1 for freshman, June 1 for transfers), and campus and department enrollment goals. There is nothing that a student should or can do other than opt-in to the waitlist by the stated deadline. Any additional information submitted that was not requested by the campus will not be considered.

You have appealed your decision along with opting into the waitlist, so there is nothing more you can do.

@Gumbymom do you know if your major impacts your chances of getting off the waitlist?

@sff123: Yes, major can impact your chances of getting off the waitlist.

@Gumbymom I knew when applying to UCSC that my major was quite competitive and difficult to get into. Do you think that because of this my chances of getting off the waitlist will also low?

I really cannot say if you will have low chances since none of the UC’s breakout waitlist admits by major. Chances will vary from year to year as seen by the data below:

    2019
    Total waitlisted: 12,859
    Waitlist opt-ins: 7,576
    Waitlist admits: 4,686

    2018
    Total waitlisted: 12,504
    Waitlist opt-ins: 7453
    Waitlist admits: 149

    2017:
    Total waitlisted: 10,378
    Waitlist opt-ins: 6038
    Waitlist admits: 2236

Thank you @Gumbymom for being so helpful! I have one more question for you. I've tried looking on the website, but couldn't find anything about this, but what do you think of the idea of emailing my admissions representative? I know that I have already sent an appeal, but do you think that emailing my rep will help me in any way? Do you think it could hurt me?

I do not know if it will help by emailing your admissions representative but it definitely will not hurt. Best of luck.
