Does Elon match other school's scholarship offers?

greenynjgreenynj 38 replies5 threads Junior Member
Anyone have experience getting additional scholarship money from Elon? Other similarly competitive schools have been more generous in their offers. While some of them start at a higher cost, I am looking at the net cost after merit money. We don't qualify for FAFSA money- merit only. but that does mean we really can justify spending so much more money to go to Elon.

we are in the same boat. We got no merit. As a parent my last phone call was not production, but once D hears from final schools, if she decides that Elon is the place, we will try again.

Just noticed my typo and can't figure out how to edit my post.......does NOT mean we can justify spending more money. I have friends at other schools who were able to get more but only after the schools saw who had committed to them and their scholarship offers. That meant they had to put in two deposits since they truly could not afford the first choice school without more money, and the timing was off.

We are in the same boat. My D got presidential scholarship and artistic scholarship but waiting to see final financial aid package and hoping they will give some grant money. Do they really expect you to come up with the ridiculous EFC they think you can pay?

So the financial aid packages aren't out yet? DS is so busy and he has all logins on his computer that I dont have access to everything. He got a 6k presidential scholarship.
And re EFC: yes, if our finances say we can pay that, we should pay that.

BTW it turns out that D did get Merit late last week. Maybe my phone call did work.. Tough choice ahead. Elon surprisingly is the affordable option now.
