Did anyone apply Early Decision to Elon? I am curious what the “average stats” are for ED versus EA and RD

If by "stats" you mean admission rates, that is found on the Elon Common Data Set.

There, it says that in 2018, Elon received 384 applicants for ED. Of those, Elon accepted 334.

I did see those numbers on the Elon site. I was just wondering if ED students generally have the same GPA’s and test scores as RD applicants (or if they are usually higher or lower then the general applicant pool).. I am probably trying to hard to analyze. We will see what happens Dec 1.. Thank you for your response!

We are anxiously awaiting Dec 1st here, too. I couldn’t find anywhere where the gpa and test scores were broken down by admission path. The ED admission rate is historically 85-90% and the RD rate is roughly 60%. I would assume that the ED stats would be slightly lower, if anything, since they accept a higher percentage of applicants. Also, I think kids tend to apply to their reach schools ED if that is where they really want to go, meaning th ED pool probably has a higher percentage of reach applicants.

The real question we all have is ‘Will I get in?’ And for that we all just have to distract ourselves until Dec 1! Good luck!

    @Nikkichizbone

Were you looking more for the stats from those who applied this year to see where you fall in comparison? Like GPA, SAT, etc.

My D applied EA so she's not in the same pool as you, but her stats are.....

    GPA - 4.03
    SAT - 1320
All honors and AP when available (3 jr yr, 4 sr year)
EC - Volleyball, Tennis, Math Team, Piano, Volunteer at local soup kitchen

I went through this with my S19 last year. The waiting is the worst!! Good luck to you!

Thanks for the feedback mamawitch. I guess I’m looking for any info in attempt to pass this time where we await decisions. My D is a very hard worker, artistic and can ace any assignment or project, but she is not a great test taker so I suppose I was also hoping to find people with lower SAT/ACT results that got admitted ED. Good luck to all!

My S17 applied ED too. I was also wondering about the stats ED vs EA vs R applicants but couldn't find it. Very anxiously awaiting Dec. 1. Also wondering since Dec. 1 is on a Sunday if it was a possibility the admissions decisions will be release earlier?

Search this site for the school you applied ED to for class of 2023. Last year Dec 1 was a Saturday and the decisions for the-school-my-D-is-anxiously-awaiting-a-response-from sent decisions the day before--the last business day before Dec 1. Expecting the same for this year.

Dec 1 is the Sunday after thanksgiving. I’m wondering if ED notifications will go out the day before Thanksgiving ? The day after? Hmmm

It would be so great if they came out the Wednesday before thanksgiving (and it was an acceptance!!)

My D is anxiously awaiting an ED response as well. This is her top choice. It would be amazing if they released acceptances prior to Thanksgiving. They are on the students portal correct?
Also - did anyone else receive a letter from Elon financial aid stating that ED is binding and if for any reason financial aid is a factor to change your application to EA or R?
