@collegefind1234: Just tell folks that it is affiliated with Oxford College.

@collegefind1234, your question isn't stupid. The answer is that you shouldn't expect most high school students to know much about colleges that aren't in their backyards, play big time sports, or are Ivy League schools. Emory is a national university and you will never need to worry about explaining that to anyone you are involved with later on in your professional years.

If you wanted to attend college games, you could watch the Yellow Jackets. Emory does have some varsity teams too, just not at the D1 level.

Emory is outstanding academically and at $11,000 per year, a strong bargain.

@sugasuga People here aren't really snobby due to the huge amount of diversity on campus. You may find some elitism amongst those of us from wealthier parts of the country (California, New York, New England) but for the most part, people don't judge based on where you come from.

Omgosh...for $11k....go to Emory!! I am a Florida grad and went back in the late 80s/early 90s when it was a bit easier to get into than today. I bleed orange and blue and think it's a phenomenal school. BUT....based on the experience you are looking for, you won't find it at UF. Huge classes, lots of partying, and no where ear the reputation of Emory. UF has moved up in the ranks but Emory is in the same bucket as Vandy, Duke, Wash U, etc for prestige/reputation AND it is what you are looking for campus/culture wise. We are struggling with our daughter right now because she got into Emory but only got $10k and no FA, but got $30k at Tulane. Decisions decisions.....
