Does getting an Emory interview as an ED candidate simply mean I am in an area with lots of alumni or something more?

Emory is ramping up its alumni interviewing program. I believe more and more applicants will be invited to interview. it means that they are interested in you and want to learn more about you outside of information within your application and grades.

I applied RD to Emory already, but I have not received any email about interviews. Should I request one?

In general, the RD applicants will be notified and interviewed after the ED1s. It makes sense to be patient right now.

The RD candidates I know were interviewed at the same time as my son who applied ED.

My D applied RD by the Scholars deadline of 11/1 and was contacted for an interview shortly after. We are in an urban area.

Son applied ED. Alumni interview today. I can't help but think there is viable interest. If not, I can't imagine that the school would want to waste an alumni's time. Thoughts??

My friend received an interview but they do live in another city that is about 2 hours from mine. She applied regular decision too. I'm not really sure why I haven't received an interview.

Interview season for RDs is really just beginning. Some have been interviewed, but in general, they're interviewing ED1s first.

@jlinsta don't stress too much about it. My daughter applied RD at Emory a few years ago. She requested an interview, but never got one. We live in a big city with many Emory alums. She was worried the lack of an interview was a bad sign. Her worries were for naught. She was admitted RD.

Emory has been expanding the alumni interview program, so what happened a few years ago may not be the case anymore. They still can't interview everyone who applies, even the competitive candidates.
