i'll bump for oxford of emory. and emory if you really feel compelled to chance it too, but if not that's cool. Oxford is really a doubt for me though, idk if it's a safety, match, or reach.

I'm pretty sure both campuses looks only at UW.. so.. :( Their average is around 3.8 while Oxford is around 3.6.

I'd say you've got a good shot at Oxford IF you show interest. However, Emory is a reach. It's a crapshoot though.. I was accepted at Emory but (what the hell) waitlisted then accepted at Oxford with a 3.6gpa 2100+ SAT.

Oxford is a nice little school if you want closer relationships with profs without those gigantic intro courses. I've never actually visited the Oxford campus, but folks at Emory have told me that they appreciate the students there and most don't "look down" on them (though some will). I'm sure most students will go off to either main campus or UGA to party, but then again, you're going there to make lifelong friendships.
No, I'm not an Oxford student.

Visit and learn about the school; experience it. Show that you know more about the school than just anyone that visits the web page could gather.

wait really? lol i'm going in october. it's going to be more exciting now haha. so can i consider oxford a match?

and wow, the chinese need to get a standing ovation for this ceremony, no matter what you think of their political stuff. this is unbelievable

I'd say it's a low reach, especially with the below average GPA.
The political stuff about China is a bunch of bulls***! I was reading an article online about some homo who climbed a pole outside the Bird's Nest to put up a free tibet poster. Guess what nationality that hippie was from? AMERICA and the UK. IDIOTS! If REAL Tibetans came, that would really be something. However, pretty much 99% of Tibetans living in China are indifferent and don't give a rat's a** about this issue.

Damn, the American media needs to get stuff right for once. Don't get me started on his un"holiness" the Dali Gayma.

ok so instead of that question, or with that question, does Emory AND Oxford of Emory need teacher recommendations?

For Emory you need teacher recs for sure. I'd think the same is true for Oxford.

so earlier in this thread, i believe someone mentioned interest....how much does visiting, and listening in on classes help? if at all

It helps alot. and when you visit, make sure you sign in! They keep your name on record and will remember that when they see your application. Also, see if there are any college fairs in your area that Emory will be at and make sure to attend. If you have a specific questions or concern, make a phone call straight to the admissions office and talk to them (however, make sure that the question cannot be answered from their website. It must be specific and custom-fit to you). That's how you show interest.
Also, being Hispanic mayy help for your lack of GPA. or if one of your personal experiences directly affected your GPA (and if that's expressed in your essay), then that may help as well.

I had a slightly lower GPA and slightly higher tests scores and I got into Oxford no problem. I think you'll be fine. Oxford looks more for the potential they see in you rather than how you've done in the past.

well my college counselor told me that Emory/oxford was one of the first places to look into interest as a factor. luckily i just finished my visit form thing, and hopefully that helps me lol
