    Hello everyone!

Thanks so much for your posts of support and advice. I am all settled at BU, in between classes right now and thought I'd update (and ask a few questions too).

I spoke with the Financial Aid Office and my scholarships/grants are still processing. I reported the new scholarship to them, and they said that it will be posted to my account once it is in the system. I see some posts here saying my package will be affected, I don't think it is the case - my scholarships are all merit based since we had a very high EFC. The people in the office didn't say anything about changing my scholarships, is there something specific I should ask to make sure? Should I still try to get the loans into my account if they will just be cancelled later? (PS - I am a minority student, and first generation which is how I got my awards :) )

On another note, I am actively searching for jobs through the Student Employment Office. The RA in my dorm said there are lots of opportunities on campus for different types of employment, so hopefully I will be able to find something. My advisor also said that he will have some potential opportunities as well to assist professors.

You sound like such a good kid. Best of luck.
I'd ask the FA folks if there is a deadline to apply for the loans. Some people apply for the loans, then decline later. At some schools, you have a window. Based on our experience, it's not unusual for some schools to still be processing FA or student billing. We only got the bill notice today.

Thank you for the update. :) Glad to hear that you got settled in!

Since your aid is all merit, then likely your new scholarship will stack and cover any uncovered costs.

If you find out it doesn't, then you can ask for a loan.

Best wishes for you! .... ;) Now go make us all proud! lol

Going forward look to see if you can be RA in dorm next year. If it suits your personality it is s great way to get free or reduced housing plus stipend and, at one D's school, reduced meal plan. Could make up difference in funds

Glad to hear you are there. After things settle down, I hope your Dad can see that you should not be denied the same family funds that the other kids get, not just including direct school and books cost, but the money they are laying out for transportation, food etc. as laid out in a couple of posts here. You shouldn't be a second class citizen in your own family. Just to keep in mind for next year's costs. You shouldn't have to take loans with a high income family and such a small amount to come up with. That amount seems to be spent on the other kids no problem.
