Can I just take pictures of my tax return and upload it on IDOC or does it have to be scanned?

As long as they're legible. Acceptable file formats are pdf, jpeg and tiff.

Uploading a tax form is required by the CSS? I did not see that listed. I can't get the tax form to open again after copying the information over the first time. Why can't it be like the fasfa and it just downloads the info automatically? Is there anything else besides the questions and uploading tax forms that I may have missed?

CSS Profile in and of itself does not require any tax forms. Profile schools may set additional requirements for tax forms, and some of theses schools use the CSS IDOC service to collect any required documents. All Profile schools will list requirements and procedures on the school's FA webpages.

Right...it's IDOC that will want those documents...not the regular Profile.

I mentioned this in another thread but it’s more relevant here. Can I upload the return transcript to IDOCs even though it doesn’t specifically ask for that? As opposed to sending directly to school?

Do you mean a school transcript, or something else? IDOC is very specific, and you can't upload school transcripts that way. Plus, all transcripts usually have to be official and sent by your school, not directly by you.

If a school is requesting a document but doesn't use the IDOC service, why would you try to send the document using the IDOC service? The school won't get it. Follow the school instructions regarding the possible methods of transmission. Besides IDOC, it might be email attachment, fax, U.S. mail, FedEx/UPS, upload through a website app, etc.
