Cal Grant not rewarded?

Hello! I’m certain my problem derived from the fact that I put estimated numbers for my FAFSA and did not use the data retrieval tool. However, I updated my FAFSA and utilized the data retrieval tool so potentially my financial information should be correct by now.

Just recently, I finally got my financial aid reward from SDSU. I know, it’s extremely late considering it’s already May and I accepted my intent to enroll based on estimated numbers. Ridiculous right, but It’s my fault, of course because I submitted my FAFSA late and incorrectly around March 1st.

Anyways, my financial award just rewarded me a Pell Grant of $2045 in total Pell Grant for both Fall and Spring. I thought I would also receive potential Work Study estimates, but that also wasn’t included. I also checked my Cal Grant estimate on their specified site and it says my award of around $5742 is put on hold tentatively, so why wasn’t that in my financial aid award too??

My parents income is around $61,000. My cost of attendance went down $2045 due to one single Pell Grant and nothing else. It says I was awarded the Cal Grant on the mygrantinfo website but it wasn’t included in the SDSU award statement.

Perhaps limited funding and late FAFSA submission? Please share your thoughts! Thank you for your time.

Did you miss the Cal Grant deadline?

    Call the school and ask?

If it’s now too late, find out if you delay enrollment for a year, would you then qualify?

@mom2collegekids No I don’t think I missed the Cal Grant deadline. It already said on their website I was awarded a specific amount, but it was on hold tentatively. I tried calling, but SDSU’s financial aid never answers. I guess I have to personally go there myself which is a complete inconvenience HAHA. I’ll try the delay enrollment for a year, I’ve never heard of that. I need to look on that more.

Do you have outstanding documents due on the portal? If you didn't use the DRT, if is likely they asked for tax transcripts or other verification. Check the portal or call them up and ask.
