What if you submit the CSS profile late?

cloud18cloud18 0 replies1 threads New Member
My parents and I submitted the FAFSA to Stanford by the priority deadline for Restrictive Early Action but turned in the CSS profile late. The priority deadline was November 15, and I submitted it on December 1. I received my decision on December 6. Will this greatly impact the financial aid I receive? Does submitting it late just mean I won’t receive it as soon as those who submitted it on time?

Is there some really good reason why you didn’t get this done by the priority deadline if you wanted a sooner than later financial aid award?

    Call Stanford and ask them.

Schools have deadlines for a reason. They expect students to adhere to the deadlines.

In the future...don’t miss deadlines for anything. Not anything. Submit early if possible.

I believe Stanford will get you your financial aid award, but don’t expect the school to jump through hoops to get it to you as quickly as those who submitted within the priority deadline time.

Lucky for you, restrictive early action is not a binding admission with a very small window to make your decision.

Your late submission should not affect the amount of aid you receive, I believe. Stanford guarantees to meet full need for all accepted students.

If it were me, I would be submitting other applications...unless you are positive Stanford will be affordable for your family.

Wealthy colleges like S can afford to do what they want, to get the right kids. There are guidelines they must work within, applying the same process to all kids, but it's not like they run out of FA funds. But your award will be based on your particulars. Did you run the NPC?

But yes, mind the deadlines. After the rule to not aggravate adcoms, comes not to annoy FA folks.
