Sent in Revised Profile

After completing my 2007 tax return, I realized I made a huge error when completing the Profile and FAFSA. I made the change to the FAFSA electronically and mailed the Profile corrections to all 9 schools (certified mail). Call me obsessive, but I am worried that the Financial Aid offices will not file the revised Profile with my son's financial aid application. What are the chances this will happen? Or, when the see the difference between the FAFSA and the Profile, will they contact me if they don't have the Profile?

I also made some mistakes on the FAFSA and Profile, but am wondering if we need to resubmit the Profile or if the revised FAFSA and IDOC documents will serve this purpose. I'd rather not pay to resubmit the Profile multiple times, but I also want my FinAid offers to be accurate. Should I just call the schools and ask them?

You can change the FAFSA and resubmit but you cannot change the Profile. As the first poster noted, for the Profile you print out, cross out the errors, write in the changes and send to the FA office.

Seems odd, but that is what they want, and that is what my family did.

Boston is right. My parents just filed their taxes so I started updating the Profile numbers today. You just cross out and write in the changes. One of my schools told me to fax it over so that's one down, I guess I'll be mailing the rest. But now I've started wondering if maybe the schools can/will just update from the tax documents I'm sending... it sure would save a lot of postage. I think the info on CC is great, but sometimes it just makes me double guess myself way too much! Oh well, guess I'll be making calls on Monday...

I had to estimate on the CSS Profile. My son applied ED, so we had to file it in late Oct. '07. My income estimates for 2007 were pretty speculative since our income isn't totally predictable. I was fairly close as it turns out, but the FAFSA and the tax documents I sent to IDOC will have more accurate numbers, of course.

Is it normal to send a corrected CSS Profile? The estimates were close enough for my comfort level, but they won't reflect the actual numbers on the FAFSA. Is that okay?

I was most concerned about the one school that did not want tax documents at this point - just Proifle and FAFSA, although I did send the revised Profiile to all schools and my postage was over $30 in total. The school that did not ask for the tax documents will ask if they need it, but if they see my oirignal Profile they may never consider my son for financial aid.
