Chances at FSU transfer

edited June 2010 in Florida State University
I will be a low level transfer with 30 credit hours and a 3.27 college GPA and a 3.0 high school with a 25 ACT in State. What do you think my odds are of getting in for the fall of 2010 semester?

Better chance of transferring in at 60 hours or with an AA.

That is an option but I would prefer to get in for this Fall.

I would say you have a 20%-30% chance, at best, that you'll get in. It's the 3.0 HS GPA that may hinder you, but the ACT is fine.

Lower that if you have a limited access major. Lots of freshman will be coming in with HS resume's that are much better, and many of those little overachiever kids will have around the same amount of credits that you do.

If you get rejected then try for Spring.

    - Your college GPA is fine, and if you had 60 credits I'd say you'd be a near certainty to get accepted. Mine was a 3.29 when my transfer was accepted (60 credits - GPA went to 3.47 since I re-did a class at my prior University).

They are recalculating my HS GPA the 3.0 was without my AP and Honors courses which I took about 4 AP courses and 2 honors so if the recalculate I think I would have around a 3.15

To be honest your chances are not really too high. A 3.15 weighted HS GPA is significantly below the bottom quartile for FSU undergraduate admissions and a 3.27 is ok and depending on what major you want to transfer into could be bad or good. As a lower division transfer your chances are, to be blunt, low, but if you work really hard and get ~3.4 GPA after 60 credits you will have a strong shot at FSU.

Thanks for the feedback kinda depressing but I would rather hear this then be told its easy and then get denied.

My application has been reviewed by admissions and has been referred to the appropriate academic advisor for review. That is what my FSU Status check says.

Does anyone know what that really means? Does is mean I have been accepted by admissions and they just want to see if I qualify for my major. These are some questions I have in no particular order and in not particular format. If anyone could answer them I would highly appreciate it. By the way I am a lower division transfer going into an accounting major.

I am so stoked for the upcoming year. More information for other on my admission for other trying to get in.

I was denied at first because I was slightly off on my milestone track thing but I talked to the lady who goes over application in the business office in April and she said that I was ahead in another catagory so its fine. I was denied like 4 days ago made a phone call to her and she reversed in 2 days. Long story short stay on track for the milestones in your major and talk to the the Admissions Advisor in the college you want to get into.

    Go Noles
