Transfering CSUs

My daughter had only applied to cal poly for Aerospace Engineering. Due to space she was redirected to Bakersfield University. The career she wants is not at Bakersfield and she may need to transfer. Would it be better for her to take a gap year or transfer? Is it possible to transfer while remaining undecided on major? Cal poly doesn't accept transfers of a second major.

What would she do in her Gap year to make her a more competitive applicant for the programs/schools she is interested in attending?

If CSU Bakersfield does not have her major, then she should consider community college and explore her major options there and then transfer to her choice schools.

Not sure what you mean “Cal Poly doesn’t accept transfers of a second major”. Also which Cal Poly?

If she plans to transfer, she does need to indicate a major since she will need to take major specific classes required to transfer.

Here is some information regarding AD-T and CSU transfers: https://www2.calstate.edu/apply/transfer/pages/ccc-associate-degree-for-transfer.aspx

She would be taking summer programs related to her major, working as volunteer and learning a new language.
She only applied for California State Polytechnic University in San Luis Obispo. When she applied, she had a 4.15 GPA (still don't know what is her accumulative GPA) Apparently she was re-directed to another university because the school is full. The problem is that Bakersfield University does not have Aerospace Engineering, they have Engineering Science and I've heard different opinions about how complicated is to transfer from a CSU to another CSU with a different major. If she could transfer latter to Cal Poly, CSU or UC, it'll be great!

Transferring from a CSU to a CSU is not as difficult as transferring to a UC, however she needs to make sure the CSU Bakersfield offers the required courses needed to transfer to another CSU/UC. She might find that going to a community college which has good coverage for her major pre-req courses will enable her to have more options. If she wants to be a competitive transfer, she needs to complete all the major required courses and if they are not available at CSU Bakersfield, then she may have a difficult time.

I posted the AD-T that CSU’s offer and the UC’s (6 campuses) have TAG (Transfer Admission Guarantee).

Cal Poly SLO will be tough admit even as a Transfer. This years projected transfer admits for Aerospace was 214 applicants for 25 spots.

This link shows the course requirements to transfer to SLO for Aerospace. If CSU Bakersfield has these course available, then she can definitely attend and aim for a transfer in 2 years.
