Waitlist for George Washington

My D just got waitlisted for GWU. She has offers from Penn State, U Conn, Boston U and American. Got turned down from Georgetown, and Boston College. She plans to major in political science and is insistent that if she's studying PS she has to be in D.C. - therefore she is now only considering AU if GWU doesn't offer her a place. Her sister is at GW so she is a little disappointed to say the least, although she did RD she thought she had a good shot.

We will pay the AU deposit and wait to see what happens with GW. She has emailed her admissions officer at GW to tell them it is still her number 1 choice, and plans to visit it again in April to show the admissions officer more interest (she visited twice already.) What else can she do for GW?

Anyone know the figures for GW- how many are on the waitlist? My D was only notified by email- no letter yet- and has no idea what the percentage is. Can we tell what her chances are? Anyone know the figures from last year?

Any feedback on American would be appreciated. The aid package from them is very good- not to be ignored! Even if she gets into GW, we don't know how much aid they will give to someone from the waitlist. GW is a more prestigious school- but I think American is still a very good one.

Thanks for the feedback.

If your other daughter is going to be at GW another year or two, you'll qualify for the GW family grant for your second daughter, which I think is something like half-tuition, while they are both there. I believe this only applies to families that are paying full-tuition, so if you don't get aid, you can decide whether the family grant discount would work out to enough to make it work for you.
