Taking the SAT

I'm a junior in high school and I'm going to apply to GWU next fall for EDI for the School of Business. I just want have a few questions about taking the SAT.

I know that subject tests aren't required but should I still take them?
I'm going to take the SAT on May 1st for the 1st time, do I include GWU as one of the schools to receive my score even though I haven't applied there yet? I'm a little confused about this.
What is a good score to get on the SAT to become accepted?
I know that you can take the SAT more than once, but how many is enough?

Also, tips and advice are welcomed :D

You can go ahead and include GWU as one of your schools, because they use Score Choice they will take the best of your tests and so it doesn't hurt to send them now. Subject tests aren't required for admission but are used for Honors and some of the special programs, so you might want to take them but it is up to you. Neither of my kids submitted them.

A good start would be to visit collegeboard to see SAT and ACT ranges for every school. Also if your SAT scores are lower than you hoped, try the ACT. I improved significantly.

Okay thank you! Do we have to submit BOTH the SAT and ACT? or either one is fine? And I want to include GWU as one of the schools to receive my SAT score, but I don't want to do bad because it would be my first one and make a bad first impression. What should I do?

GW will take either the SAT or the ACT. Theoretically you can submit as many tests as you like, because they say they will take the highest composite ACT and will superscore the SAT. THeir official policy states that they want you to submit all test dates, but with score choice they can't force it. You are a junior so don't have to submit any scores yet. If you are worried, why don't you wait and see what your results are before sending anything ? The only down side is that you will have to pay to send the scores later.

Dana: I took both the SAT and ACT with writing and submitted ONLY my ACT scores to GW and all other colleges I applied to. Fortunately, I was accepted RD to all, without any request for SAT results. Good luck!
