You have impressive statistics but the honors program recruits students who are extremely passionate about something they do, generally other than school. They look for creative people who have an interesting and unique perspective on the world and are going to contribute to an intellectual community. HP students are personable and have good social skills... they stand out around campus because of their involvement and motivation. Contrary to popular belief, they really aren't that interested in ridiculously high academic qualifications. I had good numbers but no where near yours and nearly all of my friends were in the same boat as I. To quote Dr. Nobles, director of the program "you all got in to Tech... we know you're smart. We're looking for passion and diversity." If you fit the description above, then yes, you stand a chance. Your essay will be the primary factor in selecting candidates for the honors program. I will tell you that you are approaching the end of the selection window, so if you don't hear back in a few weeks, you will have your answer.

You will still have to take linear algebra if you take Calc 2 at UGA
