I was put on the gettysburg and stanford waitlist. What does that mean? One I applied just try out my luck and the other as my back up. How does this evaluate my performance as a student?

anyone got admitted yet? I got rejected yesterday. but i didnt quite understand the letter. Did they even let anybody in from the waitlist.

Is there any movement on the waitlist? Have received no communication in either direction. Has anyone else? Should we call them?

Call the admissions office. They may be able to tell you if there's any movement on the list and may be able to tell you your ranking on the list. The Class of 2014, like all the others is limited by the number of beds available for first years (AKA freshmen) and the College is running short due to eliminating several off-campus sub-standard contract housing.

You should be able to view the class profile on the College website and see how close to the average your credentials are.

    Good luck.

How come they didnt send u an email. I recieved an email saying that no vacancies developed this year. It went like this:

When we last wrote to you about the status of our waiting list, we indicated that a continuing review of our admissions situation would be taking place. That review has now been completed, and regretfully, it is now clear that we will not be able to accept additional students for Fall 2010.

We have very much appreciated your interest in remaining on the waiting list. If vacancies had developed, we would have been pleased to have you enroll at Gettysburg. However, the high number of incoming first-year students, combined with our returning upperclass student enrollment, prevents us from making any additional offers of admission for the fall semester.

We retain all applications in our office for two years, and you are welcome to reactivate your application to Gettysburg for a future term. Thank you again for the interest you have shown in Gettysburg College, and please accept our personal best wishes in your pursuit of higher education.

I was a bit confused about the "vacancy" part, so I asked the admission counselor I was in contact with. This is what she told me:
    Dear lantern27,
We did not need to go to the waitlist this year after all, since our
    first-year class is full.

If no one recieved this kind of emails, what is going on?
    Help Please!!!!!!!

Congrats Peanut1. IMO applying early decision played a big role not only with Gettysburg but with many of the institutions.

    Peanut1 --

I'll see ya on Wednesday 25 August for Move-In Day! Arrive early, there's lots of personal things your son has to accomplish before lunch and after lunch is all scheduled First Year activities. It can be a whirlwind.
