I DON'T intend to participate in a similar activity in college. Is that bad?

For one of my activities I said I do not plan to continue it in college, is that bad?

I doubt it, especially if you have plenty of meaningful activities. If you say you'll continue everything, it may look like you're trying to pad your application and make yourself look like an ideal Harvard student. If you answer honestly and put "No" a few times, it will show that you've put thought into how you're going to spend your college years doing things that are meaningful to you. I personally put that I didn't plan to continue about half of my activities.

versus robotically continuing in something for which you have no interest? Do you honestly think schools like Harvard value that kind of self-direction or real sense of learning and exploration?

"Gee dad, what'd you do at Harvard?" "Well, I played X because I did it in HS and didn't want look bad to anyone that I was too chicken to stop it and explore new things"

    Yeech!
