Laundry costs?

My D asked me today how much it costs to wash and dry a load of laundry in the dorms. She couldn’t find it online and she is in a budgeting phase. Ha! Can anyone tell me the cost per load? Thanks!

My S's LAC doesn't charge for laundry - is that usual/unusual?

    It's a definite plus!

It is outrageous that there would be a cost extra to room and board. R&B there is >17K, and they nickle and dime you to do laundry? That can't be right.

@Aug2019 I’m not sure what is the norm, but that is a nice perk! My daughter is thinking ahead to all the little costs that will add up over the year and trying to decide how many hours she’ll need to work to cover them- and put money aside for the taxes on her scholarship.

@milgymfam Yes - it is a really nice perk. When I attended an LAC in MA many moons ago, trying to scrounge up quarters (needed exact change) to do a load of laundry could be a real hassle if you didn't plan ahead and it could get expensive over time. Made you wonder if you could wear that sweatshirt one more time...

It looks like laundry is free at Bryn Mawr. I think it’s possible for Haverford students to get Bryn Mawr dorms after freshman year, so that’s something to consider for next year. It is kinda surprising that it’s included at Bryn Mawr for $9760 but not at Haverford at $9790. I thought they shared most amenities. Learn something new everyday!
