I was saying that to dissuade you from joining waitinglists, and go wherever you have been accepted - HC or anyother of your top choice. I tell you this because I have had many friends and family who have joined waitlinglists and at the end is the same thing as being rejected unless you really make a strong appeal.

    Emma,

Nice to see someone so excited about going to H'ford, my alma mater.

I am a volunteer for the admissions office in a major Northeastern city and I can tell you that thid was the most difficult year for applicants in H'ford hidtory. It is a terrific place with a strong sense of community and honor (as I'm sure you noted).

My daughter, a HS junior, won't consider H'ford ('that's Dad's school") so will apply ED to Bryn Mawr and Mount Holyoke in fall.

    Best wishes,

    Hey everyone,

I actually was accepted into Haverford ED..except I didn't find out about the site until yesterday! Which is weird..considering that I'm such a college whore...I mean..I'm a bit college obsessed, especially with Haverford :)

Just out of curiousity..is anyone here from outside the US? I'm an international student..and a little bit nervous. Anyway, can't wait to meet next year's Haverford class...can't wait to go to Haverford..can't wait to get out of high school.. You guys know what I'm talking about :p

Hey! I was accepted RD. I'm from western MA. I'll be staying over during open campus weekend. Just wondering if anyone else was from around here or might run xc/track...

I love xc! But I'm super slowwwwww. If somehow over the summer I get extremely fast, then I'll consider maybe joining xc...

I will run track (indoor and outdoor I guess) and cross-country at Haverford. I visited and stayed with someone on the team in February and I really liked it. I can't wait to be on the team.

CC possibility...yeah i was captain of my team this year, but im not so good (my PR is around a 22 for a 5K) and if i ran for their awesome team, even though coach donnelly is one of the coolest and nicest coaches ive ever met, id never be a real competitor and id also never have time for lots of club sports. So its really nothing against the cross-country team, just the committment level of varsity athletics at haverford, which i judge to be quite a commitment, one unfortunately, which i dont think i can meet successfully.
Here i stand i can do no other...

    hey, how's everyone doing?
  • ClaireCClaireC Registered User Posts: 5 New Member
Canuck, i'm just like you! i was a captain for my team this year and i really love xc and track but my times are about the same as yours so i don't know if i'm good enough. i don't care if i dont compete or anything but i don't even know if i would have anyone my level to train with. i'd be really graet to have a good coach though, because i was kind of unhappy with mine this year. i am also worried about the time commitment, what with balancing classes and other clubs.

canuck33, i am considering mcgill university and i'd be interested to hear your impressions of it. instruction there is in english, but would the fact i don't speak french make it difficult to live in montreal? also i have heard mcgill is very traditional -- huge lectures, and exams=your whole grade. (haverford is obviously VERY different atmosphere). also, do you have any insight on the weather in montreal? i am from CA, have never lived in snow....

    Hey everybody,

I'm Jesse, an ED from NY, and planning on going to the admitted students day. I am very excited about next year and just wondering whether anyone else planning on going to the admitted students day would want to meet. I just can not wait to meet everyone going to Haverford next year.

notion, one of my cousins went to Mcgill and loved it. It is a great school at an amazing price. It seems like you have a fairly good understanding of the school, large classes and exams, etc, you just have to decide what your priorities are.
As far as the city, from my brief visit, its great. Lots to do, good food, and cheap (although the dollar keeps going down...) Not knowing French should rarely be a problem, it is very rare to go somewhere where no one speaks English. My visit was in the summer, but I bet it is going to get cold and snowy. It can get fairly cold here in NY and I bet it is significantly colder in Montreal. Very different weather than CA, but you would probably get used to it after a while.
