How to write email to admission officers?

There is this college that I am applying to and I have a question about it. Let's just say that the email for the college's admission office is admissions@college.edu. Now, now do I start off the email? Should I keep it informal or formal? I was thinking something along the lines of:

Dear [College] Admission Officers:


Thank you,
- [Name]

But would that be correct or would it make a bad impression, or just be too formal or awkward?

    1) Head over to your email provider's website.
    2) Login to their email system with your chosen username and password.
    3) Click "Compose".
    4) Type their email address in the "To:" section.
    5) Type in a relevant subject.
    6) ???
    7) PROFIT!
