    why don't we all do drugs then cause it probably feels good.

    This is easy: Short term vs. long term. In the short term, drugs offer a pleasureable experience. In the long term, however, they're addictive, costly, and damaging to your body and state of being. So, most of us choose long term over short term.

    And using the long term vs short term argument, you can successfully argue why a relationship isn't a waste of time. In the short term, it can be quite enjoyable. In the long run, either a) it'll become something more, or b) it'll end at some point, you'll move on, and it won't matter.
