How will this affect me?

I made c's all through Algebra I in 8th grade. Will colleges see this? Also, could that affect me getting a governor's seal on my diploma?

No. Colleges don't ever look at grades before high school.

Isn't Algebra a high school class? I am pretty sure it counts, I took Algebra last year. Furthermore, a C is a great grade. You have nothing to worry about. Besides, you have next year to bring your grade up.

...Even in the world outside of CC, a C is not "a great grade", unless the student in question tends to get F's and D's in the rest of his or her classes.

That said, no, colleges will not see that C because you took the class in middle school.

A little off-topic: I don't know what grade you're currently in, but make sure that you acquire a strong foundation in Alg. I if you haven't already done so... I goofed off in middle school, and that algebraic knowledge deficit is still haunting me a bit.

At my school, even if you take the class in middle school, if it's a HS class such as Alg. 1 or a language, it shows up on your transcript. I got a B in Alg. 1 (in 8th grade) but high A's in all my other math classes through now so I'm not too worried about MS and I wouldn't be either if you got A's in HS

I think most schools, however, don't put high school level classes on a transcript for middle school. I made consistent B's in all of my high school level math classes in middle school (which was 6th-8th grade) and none of them show up anywhere. You'll be fine :)

If it is to be, it is up to me.....

Ask your counselor and see. I took Algebra I, Geometry, and French in MS for HS credit, and all three are on my transcript to this day.

Basically what OP said, you need to ask your counselor since it varies from school to school.

Depends if it's on your transcript. You might be able to remove it since you took it in 8th grade.

Some schools ask you to only list classes you took in high school, so you would compute your GPA without it (e.g UCs don't let you report grades taken before 10th grade).
