HELP: How to deal with stress junior year?!

lilsmileylilsmiley Registered User Posts: 8 New Member
I am very emotional right now because junior year had ripped me to pieces. I am taking 4 ap classes and 2 honors and I am always sleeping super later and sleep deprived. I am always stressed out and I have no life anymore, I don't take care of myself in health as in fitness and food. I don't go out anymore because of school. There is never any time to do anything. I do manage my time well, I don't procrastinate. But I do take naps when I get home every day for three hours and I can't get out of the habit. I drink coffee every single day. I can feel myself deteriorating and I'm so unhealthy. I just need real solutions to deal with stress, cause I'm having a mental breakdown right now. I know the typical answers of manage your time wisely, take breaks, etc, but that's not enough. I was wondering if there's other solutions? It became so bad that I even had a thought of resulting to alcohol, but of course I wouldn't. I am just so stressed and I don't know how to fix myself and my sleep schedule and I feel like I am so unhealthy from this. Please help. And please don't say to throw out an ap class because that's not an option right now. I have straight a's so far and I really want to continue with that. I just want to know how to deal with the stress etc and how to actually have a life because I don't. I haven't even had a real relationship with my parents in a while and it's sad. Thanks

4 ap and 2 honors should not take all your time unless you have tons of ECs, in which case you should drop the less meaningful ECs.

If 4 ap and 2 honors alone is taking all your time, you probably aren't managing your time as well as you think you are. For most classes, you can get away with BS essays and copy-paste equations instead of reading long sections of text for hours on end.

Please enlighten us as to a wake to sleep schedule and specificity helps.

    Are you a procrastinator?

And define sleep deprived. I used to think anything less than 8 hours results in sleep deprivation, but that's not the case. We can get by with anywhere from 4-8 hours, as long as we're consistent.

    Inconsistency makes you tired.

Don't nap this weekend. Then get to bed at a reasonable time on Sunday and just stop the whole nap thing. I suspect that will help your mood and your work more than you think. Try going out for a brief walk or run after you get home from school. The break and the exercise and the natural light will do you good.

Also, when you get your work, think about how important each assignment is. Maybe you can find a way to spend less time on some assignments. Everything doesn't have to be perfect. If you have a friend who also works hard, maybe you can get together to work, to be a little less socially isolated.

Oh, and absolutely do not start drinking. That could cause real problems. Getting a B is not a real problem, despite what you may think, it's really not. Millions and millions of adults got B's in high school and went on to have happy and successful lives.

^Alcohol doesn't solve your problems, but neither does milk or orange juice.
