Hey everyone, I'm new to this forum and I put together a list of the courses, clubs, and sports I plan to take and I eanted to have your opinion on them. I'm currently entering 8th grade but I have always wanted to become a doctor when I grow up because I like how they help people and I hope I will someday help people too as a doctor. Are 4 clubs too much considering I'm gonna take AP and PreAP classes? Should I leave any of those clubs? Should I leave any of those sports?
Do you think colleges will like all of what I will list below if I stick to all those clubs and athletics for 4 years and having a gpa of 3.75 and higher? Do you have any tips? Anyways, I want to have your opinion on what I will list below:

8th Grade

Art 1 [1 Credit]
Spanish for Spanish Speakers 1 [1 Credit]

9th Grade

I have never heard of Pre-Ap but this schedule seems manageable.5 clubs are manageable but with 2 sports might be hard. No one knows better than you do so you must decide though. Nice Plan though

It can and will change obviously, but this sounds like a good class plan to me. Depending on how much time the clubs require and what time they meet during the year, it could be tough with sports.

Everyone needs a plan. Seems fine to me. Can you become a volunteer firefighter or EMT at 16?

Is Pre-AP basically the same thing as Honors? Your plan looks really competitive. I think trying to handle 5 clubs and two sports might be overwhelming, especially with your course load. Maybe just do 2 sports and 3-4 clubs? You are going to need to make sure that you have enough time to get all of your school work finished. This plan does seem nice, but just remember that it is very, very likely that your plan will change at least once while you're in high school. Make sure not to stress about it too much either.

Maybe OP enjoys planning things out. Our middle school GC encouraged us to research and gather information about high school in 8th grade. Freshman year counts, too, so it's great that you're planning ahead and you're aware.

Being aware is good. As is taking high school credit in middle school. Planning freshman year is fine but beyond that is not. Things change, your interests, classes offered. OP needs to be flexible

I almost wish I started this early to plan out my high school career. Almost.

You're, like, 14 years old. A lot can change by the time you apply to colleges in 3 years.

    Come back after sophomore year.

5 clubs and two sports might conflict with each other too much. If some clubs meet everyday like sports do, you'll obviously have to choose one over the other. Being involved is good, but a Yale admissions officer said they'd rather say a few clubs or activities that they are heavily involved in rather than a lot of ECs they are only half invested in. I don't have the link, but it's out there.

Also, it's good to be prepared for what you want to do, don't get me wrong. However, your schedule will probably change as your interests change. In the beginning and through freshmen year, I wanted to major in music education with an emphasis in wind conducting. But now, I really want to major in Speech Language Pathology. Don't be alarmed if your schedule changes! Mine has many times now.

4 years of a foreign language or at a minimim 3 is normally recommended, even if you are fluent in Spanish. It is not too early to plan out high school in the 8th grade. Basically that's when you need to plan out high school because some courses aren't offered every year and some courses have prerequisites. If you want to apply successfully to the very, very top colleges an unweighted GPA of 3.90 positions you much better. This is basically one B grade per year

Yeah, I think I'm gonna make a second high school schedule and then compare both, would you be willing to see which one is better for me afterwards and looks more rigorous to colleges? I think it's never to early to plan something, my school requires some classes to be taken before taking the ones I want so I gotta make my schedule considering that.
