Just found out about this book & ordered it today ! I"m excited. I've already read through Crash Course. I"m going through AMSCO, but I'm not sure if I'll have enough time for that. Hopefully DH will help a lot :)

YOU GUYS! Should I get DH or Crash Course? I'm gonna finish AMSCO soon, hopefully, (who am I kidding), but once I do, REA OR DH?!?!?

Now that I have read through the new Direct Hits US History in a Flash, I would recommend it over the Crash Course book. I t is about 100 pages longer and really has great review chapters at the end. I found the chapters on how to write a DBQ and Free Response question very helpful, epecially the sample essays with notations. Also learning to use AP Central which is great.

I have also looked at the 100 multiple-choice questions on the Direct Hits Education website and they are great. I can't wait to use them with my students.

So do you guys think the Direct Hits can be sufficient enough for a 4 or 5, if it is thoroughly read and reviewed.

My students have loved the the DH US History in a Flash book. Their teachers are behind because of the January snow storm in Atlanta that closed school for a week. They are going through the last chapters of the course very fast and this book has really pinpointed what they need to know.

The US History in a Flash book has been great helping me get through the last chapters in my class, but this weekend the big review begins. I am going to start with the Top 40 Topics you must know that I got from the FB page. Each topic is linked to a chapter in the book.

I'm so stressed and annoyed. Do you think they ship overnight LOL?

So.....should I get AMSCO or DH? I can only get one. I am willing to dedicate any amount of time to studying so length is not really an issue for me. I just want something that won't waste my time.

DH is just as useful, if not more, and is half the length as AMSCO. I think AMSCO has an entire useless section on the pre colombian world(talking about Silk Road and stuff like that)

^businessgrl I think you will do very well with the Direct Hits book. My sons used Mr. Krieger's other AP books and they helped both get a 5 on the AP Euro and AP US exams. This new book is even better than the one my son used last year since it is more comprehensive.

My tutoring students are reeally enjoying following the tips that are being posted on the US History in a Flash FB page. You should check it out.

Probably DH. I bought AMSCO (and Crash Course) before the start of the school year, but now that I have DH, I probably won't touch AMSCO. The Crash Course I'll read, but hopefully I won't need to read through the monstrosity known as AMSCO. :P

I ordered my book a week ago, I feel like its never going to get here. I have no patience at all! I cant believe that Im excited to get a history book.

Ha. Has anyone noticed that DH and Crash Course are written by the same author?
  • IsurusIsurus Registered User Posts: 328 Member
^ Yeah. I think DH is a bit better though. I bought both (Crash Course before DH came out), and so now I'm giving my Crash Course to a friend. I don't need both.
