**AP Psychology Thread 2016-2017**

Hi everyone! I'm self-studying for the AP Psych test thist year, I know it's kind of early but I really want to get a 5. I'm not from the US, actually I'm from a spanish speaking country so this is a challenge for me. Also, I would like to make a study group to share all the resources I have found (notes, pw slides, outlines, cram packets, chapter reviews and more), and help each other out, maybe on Facebook or something. So if you would like to join or just share your thoughts, go ahead!

    Hi Marie,

I wanted to self-study Psych last year (I actually even ordered the PR book) but my GC advised against it and told me to focus on my ECs instead (and I had four other tests, which I ended up getting 5's on). I think I could've handled it, but whatever. Now I'm a rising senior, and I have this psychology book laying around... I'm really into personal development and genuinely want to learn about how our minds work, so I guess I could give this exam a shot. I probably won't begin studying until around February, though (I've got college apps to fill out and whatnot).

Cool that you're from a Spanish speaking country and taking on the challenge of a self-study course in English! there's an app called 'GroupMe' which is great for group chats. We could share all of the stuff we find there. Just sign up & PM me the email you used to sign up or your phone #, and I can create an AP Psych self study group. See you there, hopefully!

I'm actually talking the class this year as a junior because I've heard many great things about it. I'm only one week in but it's alright interesting and engaging unlike my AP english course right now which is nice. Also my teacher is amazing. I'm only taking it first semester though so I am a little worried about retaining the info till the test.

I'm taking AP Psych as a senior, and so far it's pretty interesting! I want to major in it, so I figured it would be good to take it now, and maybe get credit that would place me out of a general class. I'd be happy to share study tips and other things as the year progresses!

Hello, I am curious why we can't share MCQ questions but we can discuss FRQs after the psychology AP exam.

Not me sadly, I've been studying since yesterday every unit individually and taking tests after each one and now I have 9 units left. :(

I'm taking psych tomorrow. I'm a little nervous, but I think I can pull a five. I took three released practice exams and scored in the 80's on all of them, but I heard that past exams are always easier. (Flynn Effect?)
Im a little unfamiliar with the FRQs (I only wrote like 3 the whole year) but I think I'll be able to do them.

I thought it was super easy. There was only one term on the FRQ that I didn't know. Expecting a 5

I self studied it alongside a normal psychology course, and it wasnt too bad! I just wish i studied more about the specific neurotransmitters and abnormal psycholoical disorders.

I made hundreds of notecards and I dont even remember what a basiliar membrane is. lol

I self studied AP Psychology (read the barron's book twice) and I thought it was okay. However, it's much harder than, say, the 1999 exam.

There were about 5 things I never learned about while self studying. An additional 5 or 10 that I just couldn't remember (such as the neurotransmitters or disorders).

On the FRQ I did 6/7 on the first one and 4/7 on the second one. I think I got a 3 or 4.

I wish I had started earlier (2 week cram session!) because there were concepts that caused me to experience "tip of the tongue syndrome." Lol. Anyways, I wish I had spent more time not just learning concepts but also memorizing definitions. I.e. for the frq where I got 4/7, I remembered reading about 2 of the things but I couldn't remember what they were exactly!

I just hope I get a 3. That's what my future college requires to gain credit for the first psychology class.

FRQ number two had me with a few terms, but overall I feel like I did well.

I wish I had a 2 week cram session, I cramed everything this weekend read the barron book, saw videos on every chapter, wrote out all the terms and did practice tests on each chapter and after all of this I didn't know some of the things on the exam. If I didn't get a 4 or a 5 I would officially give up on life.

If it makes anyone feel any better, someone in my class didn't realize that there was a second FRQ.... he was finished in 15 minutes and merely thought he was "faster and smarter" than everyone else. Yikes.
