Thinking of taking a gap year and applying to colleges after then

Hello,
I am thinking about taking a gap year and then applying to college after as a freshman. Would I be able to take credit community college classes during this time and still apply as a freshman?

Also, what would I need to do during the gap year to be competitive for admissions?

Depends upon your target colleges. Some colleges where you have just 1 CC credit post HS graduation, you would be considered a Transfer. Check out each target school’s policy regarding Freshman vs Transfers.
