How will online school affect college admissions?

I know this isn’t actually a homeschooling question, but I thought you might be able to give some insight anyway. Will colleges view online high school negatively on an application even with good test scores and a rigorous courseload? I don’t want to go to community college, and I’d prefer a 4-year university, but everyone keeps telling me an online high school diploma will affect my chances at admission negatively. Anyone on here have experience with online school at all??
