What are the chances with uneven scores?

What is your take on a home school student that scores a 750 on SAT reading and writing but can't break a 500 on math.?

Student wants to study English, writing or literature. Will any good schools even consider a situation like this? Are any hopes of scholarships lost?

Does anyone have any thoughts?
