Those are great SAT scores. I do not see any need for another attempt. You are good to go.

    thnx anialways

Let me tell you that I know for a fact that you can get a perfect 2400 and Ivy admission will still not be a guarantee.

Please open your mind and heart. There is more to life than Ivy. Aiming for it one thing but to be obsessed and have that as your be all and end all is not healthy. You have to have options beyond these 8 colleges.

While Ivies are what they are, great academic institutions, lots of prestige attached to them. But so are so many others which do not have that tag. Because it is what it is, a historical concept. And remember admission to
college, after you have done the best you can - GPA, SATs, Essays, ECs, Rigorous Curriculum - is still a lottery. No one can predict for sure your admission in one particular college of your choice.

retake your SAT. it can't hurt. your writing score can go up dramatically easily if you use the right prep. Also, have you attempted the ACT? Use this summer to study for it. You can cancel ACT test after you take them, so why not take it as many times as you want? Taking the SAT twice will not hurt either.

Ivies don't give merit scholarships, but they have awesome financial aid (if you qualify).

"For students who fall within the statistical averages of the Ivy League, but who still don’t gain acceptance, you didn’t get denied because of something you did wrong or because of something you were missing. Instead, there was someone else who helped fill an institutional priority or who has done something so unique and so extraordinary that they were almost unrivaled."

Who the Heck Is Getting into Ivy League Schools? | College Application Wizard

Read as much as you can. Research as much you can. Write the most effecitve personal essay you can. Do what you have to. But please always have options, options and more options. Avoid getting emotionally attached to any one college. That is the best way to approach college application and admission process.

I am a parent. I am not trying to dissuade. Last 4 years just here on CC and in my Ds school, seen so much of emotional roller coaster journeys of so many, good and not so good ones. So while you do the best you can, also remember you will find your 'fit'. If that is an Ivy so be it.

SAT is fine..work on the other parts of your application.

top 10 is more of lottery openings..you may be the winner of the grand prize...but you'll never know for sure. Expand your horizons, make a plan B too.

yeah bt seeing other ppl's sat 1 mrks i feel a little lyk an underdog ..
i saw ppl getting 2300 and still no chnce in top 10 so what would dat make a prson wid only 2170 . thats the thought which bugs me .. :(

If you wish to be taken seriously, you need to start using proper english. Please don't mind my saying so, Seriously, this kind of writing might be ok for SMS and whatsapp, though I would not use it even for texting, but here you should be practising your writing skills.

yep, anialways is correct ( I think I've done this at times too :p).

Also, when I applied to universities that I thought were awesome, I did so with a 2050 as my SAT score( below almost everyone here); I realized that though they did count...they don't count as much :)
Work hard(I'm not good at that :p), and make the rest of your app. good...shift the highlight of your app. from just scores to showing them who you actually are.
That will get you much higher than 'those' friends with 2300's.
    You will be fine :)

    thanks anialways
from now on I would try my best to write in actual English rather than terse languages ..
thanks quiverfox yes i too think i need to improve my profile more than my scores. Can you suggest some ways to improve my application.

Have you made any solid poetry?? If so, can you string a book out of that?? Last year, my friend here in CC made such a book of poems and submitted the material to Harvard...guess what , he's part of Harvard 2017' :)
Are you really passionate about Math? Go try out some Olympiad and demonstrate your talent there. If you win there, you win big :)
Cannot comment much about sport since, I don't really know how good the school is in football as such.
There are these small things which can greatly improve your application.

Best of luck...be the rainmaker in you :)

i have written only 8 poems that are worthy of reading. (rest all were just for entertainment) so idea of book is a little difficult ...
yeah i have interest in science n maths n i have certificates from Olympiads but i could not achieve a great score on them :( and in sports i have some certificates but since now i am in the senior year i don't get enough time to play :( ....
but would some activities like declamation and speeches count?
still if you could help me with some more ideas i'd be highly thankful :)
