IB admissions for uChicago/NYU

Hey guys, I’m gonna keep this short and simple. So I’m a senior at high school ( international student) and my predicted grades just got released. So I got 39/42 points with 7s in my HLs and 6 in English A Lang and lit and 5 in math SL. (math is my weak point). I also tried the SAT 0 prep but didn’t score that good (1150 points). With that, I’m looking at test flexible universities in the US because I think my IB grades are competitive but my SAT is trash. I came across NYU and UChicago and both of them are really good options for my major ( Economics) I’m just wondering if any of you guys know or have an experience on the average IB grade that gets in to these Universities. I think my ECs are up there and I am currently working on my common app essay. Also, if you guys know any other good options that I can study Econ at please hmu. It doesn’t necessarily have to be in the US.

If math is your week point, U Chicago economics likely isn’t a good choice. I am just guessing, but I would say to be competitive at a top Econ program you should be able to get a 700+ on the SAT math without studying. Especially in the international pool.

Neither Chicago nor NYU gives good financial aid. Can you afford $50,00-$70,000 per year?

NYU Abu Dhabi is heavily subsidized by the government and as an Abu Dhabi citizen, chances of financial aid are high. Anyways, I don’t think money is an issue here (all thanks to god). But my question is that can I compete with my IB grades in these Unis. Also, SAT math is very different than IB math in the style of questions and content. Idk i just really don’t know what to do and I feel like the SAT and my math grade is really limiting me in my options for top unis.

Any top US college will expect math strengths for an econ major.
