I am entering my sophomore year of college and I was wondering when is the appropriate time (year) to start applying for internships?

Application time begins in the fall depending on major. My son did engineering so Oct, Nov the ads the start. . You can start looking as soon as school restarts to get a sense of who is advertising. I suggest going to your college job placement office and see what they say for your area of study.

Yep, the Fall is the first career fair at my D's school as well and lots of students secure their summer internships then but there are others throughout the year as well.

Go back to school with your resume ready and go to the career center to have it reviewed. Also bring an interview suit with you (or see if your school has a lending closet).
