Investment internship

I had an interview with Morgan Keegan, and i was told that i will be limited in what i can do because i am not licensed and he made it seem that the internship would be rather boring but a lot of room for growth if i tell him what i am interested in. I am an accounting major and i dont know a lot about the investment world. obviously investment banking is huge but i dont know if this group does much of that. so it would be helpful if anyone can let me know if they have done internships in investment firms and what projects or assignments they had that can be done without any licensing, the projects can consist of investment banking, i just would like some suggestions and ideas. thank you all very much.
