Undergrad law firm internship

Hello,

I'm in my sophomore year and I'm looking ahead to the summer thinking about getting some kind of internship at a law firm. I don't mind mundane office work like copying and filing, anything that pays. I interned at the Attorney General's Office and a DA's office previously, so now I am looking for some experience in a private law firm.

How early should I start sending out resumes to firms for a summer job/internship?

What should the body of the email look like?

Thanks a lot for any insight you could provide!
