What building in the village should I live in?

offtocollege20offtocollege20 4 replies4 threads New Member
I know I definitely want to live in a suit, so I want to live somewhere in the village. Plus, its so nice that they're all getting heat/ac now. Any recommendations about which hall to live in?
Options are: Chappelear, Dingledine, Frederikson, Garber, Hanson, Huffman, Ikenberry, Weaver, White

You don't get to choose. JMU assigns your dorm

@kathyrain I believe I saw posts that JMU has changed that this year.

Yes, EA admitted students received an email stating that beginning this year with the class of 2024, students will be allowed to select their dorm and room.

@offtocollege20 There are facebook groups for JMU Class of 2024 students and also a subreddit for JMU that are pretty active with students that may be better able to help you decide on a dorm. Perhaps try asking there?

By chance, where did you hear they are adding AC to those halls? Last I saw, the master plan is to eventually tear them down and rebuild.

I was not a fan when I stayed in them. I was put into Dingledine. They should have been knocked down or renovated many, many years ago. Old and gross. Small rooms. Drafty window. For me, the only perk was the suite style. I would look at the map of the village. Probably stay away from the dorms closest to I-81. So loud with all the trucks when the window is open. You can also use google (lots of dorm rankings), YouTube, and other JMU FB sites to find out more info and opinions.
