Hey... I'm planning to use the common app when I apply early decision; JHU is my first choice. Is there a bias towards the Common App? If I do submit the commonapp, does the commonapp essay in take the place of the JHU essay questions? If not, what other supplemental essay questions do I have to answer?

As I have said many times before (search old threads), there is no preference given to the JHU application over the Common application or vice versa, just as there is no preference when it comes to online or paper for either versions of the application. Choose what ever method you want.

As far as the essays, if you apply via the Common Application then all that is required is one of the Common Applications essays. HOWEVER, as stated in our supplemental we recommend that you submit the JHU essays either in addition to or in lieu of the Common Application essay. Consider this A STRONG ENCOURAGEMENT - we like to see the JHU essays.

If I didn't state it clearly enough, WRITE THE JHU ESSAYS!
