For all the current students/parents

Would you consider the aid offered by Kenyon to be very generous?

Thank you :)

I think Kenyon was actually generous with their aid. For example, I almost couldn't believe it when I saw my own digits!

I am fairly satisfied with the aid kenyon gives to me. I think kenyon is pretty generous.

I think it actually works out cheaper for a lot of kids to go to kenyon than a big state school, they meet full demonstrated need and often give a lot more.

For well qualified international students the financial aid could not be better, write what you can afford to pay and that is more or less what you'll get.

We thought Kenyon was very generous. Compared very favorably to the offers from all the other schools to which our daughter was admitted.

I'm a sophomore next semester and when I received my financial aid award for the upcoming school year I actually appealed. Kenyon is very easy to work with--they gave me more aid!

Do they consider private loans to be part of the aid package or is the loan portion the federal loans? Is the loan portion of the package substantial or is it mostly grants/scholarships?

For us the bulk of the financial aid was in the form of a "grant." There was also a work/study, a federal student loan, and a small loan directly from Kenyon. They did fully meet our need.

I am seeking Kenyon students/graduates to interview about their financial aid packages at the College. It's for an article in the summer issue of the Kenyon Alumni Bulletin, Kenyon's award-winning alumni magazine. Thanks for your considerations. Dennis ([email protected])

We were thrilled to see the amount of financial aid offered by Kenyon. Not only did it fill our needs, it was the clincher when decision time came. We are a grateful family.

Our daughter was accepted at this excellent school (although here heart led her to another equally wonderful place). In a word--Kenyon's financial aid ROCKS.

Speaking from personal experience, Kenyon offers great financial aid. Financial aid can be taken in the form of work study, grants, scholarships, federal grants and loans. They try to meet the needs of most, if not all, of its students.

I just wanted to balance this out a little more though. I did have a friend who was not satisfied with their fin aid package (although she still chose to attend Kenyon). It had something to do with her parents money was tied in a combination of many things (retirement, stocks..?), $$ that could not be accessed during her years at Kenyon.. and Kenyon did not give her any $. She was extremely upset about it and tried to get Kenyon to appeal that decision --- but they did not.

Whether or not I think her dissatisfaction with Kenyon is warranted is not relevant... just wanted to share a negative story with you!

Also, throughout my years at Kenyon, I've known at least one student that transferred out because she said Kenyon was too expensive.

    Hope that helps!

I was surprised to see how generous it was. It is less than all but one of the schools she has applied to, which is less due to a huge scholarship there. Kenyon Amazing. It seems more likely every passing minute that this is my daughter's future home.

It was pretty similar to the one I got from other places (Grinnell's the only one that's offered me more), but I suppose that's not a fair comparison since I mostly applied to LACs in the Northeast.
