Merit Aid?

Has anyone received merit aid from Loyola yet? This is supposed to come out around April 1 and it sure would be nice if my son received some $.

I don't know the source but someone on another thread said letters would be mailed 4/1. We're hoping to receive something Saturday or Monday.

I applied EA and got in but didn't receive any merit with my acceptance. Does that mean I didn't get any? Or do EA applicants hear back about merit aid with the RA pool?

illigon - all early action accepted applicants should have received both their merit and need-based aid by now. regular decision was supposed to be mailed out around april 1.

Son applied to seven colleges that are all around the same level. Received good merit at six. Loyola was the only one that did not offer him merit.
So disappointed and a little bit confused.

DS also got merit aid from many schools, but none from Loyola. It sounds like they're very focussed on GPA. DS's SATs were very strong; his GPA was good but not great. (We're actually fine with this. One less school to ponder over and if he'd gotten aid similar to what he got from other schools, Loyola would still have been the most expensive.)

MyLB, my daughter was accepted EA. She is the valedictorian of her class, has a weighted GPA of 4.41 (3.97 unweigted) and received NO merit aid from Loyola. I assumed it was because she did not apply to the honors program. We were very surprised.

How do you guys know who is the valedictorian so far in advance? Our h.s. calculates it only days before graduation.

I know they know who is no. 1,2,3, etc down to no. 450----but they don't tell us! And the actual final determination of who is the valed. & salut. is made by hundredths of a point---it changes every time they take a test.
