Going to be a senior in a Massachusetts high school looking forward to umass amherst for highly ranked biology program and research. If I get denied to umass amherst can I just go to umass dartmouth since it's close to home then transfer? Would I have to wait a semester or a year? Bad idea? How hard is transferring in the umass system?

No--you can apply to as many UMass campuses as you want, choose from whichever of them accepts you.
