What's the student body like at McGill? I know its hard to describe so many people but I've heard that fashion is a major interest. Is this true?

Not among engineering or science students...

If by fashion you mean people want to look good, then I'd say very few schools you'll hear of have a student body that's disinterested in fashion (rather, looking good).

Engineering or science students might not be as fashion forward as perhaps management students (I've seen quite a few students in Bronfman wearing nice dress clothing), but in general, I don't think eng/sci students look any where than any other students. Perhaps they're just more incline to wear their faculty hoodies? (think: you rarely see an Art History major rocking their department's hoodie, but I'm never at a loss for spying the occasional chemistry major).
