    momoftwins:Thanks for the heads-up.

I think the 2009 profile numbers for "Accepted/offered" might be wrong. In the USMA press release they said the Class had 1250 candidates with 189 woman. This is consistent with the Geographical Distribution section of the Class of 2009 profile which states that the class has 1251 members.

I think the erroneous numbers were carried over from the Class of 2008 Profile since the 1,030 men and 194 women numbers are the same as Class of 2008.

Anyone want to bet a nickel I'm wrong?

Nope. I'm sure you're right. Otherwise, Beast attrition would be at an all-time low (1191 cadets accepted).

1,251 was the starting number for us. Supposedly, we're the smartest class ever to enter West Point, but also the most physically unfit.

"Smart" is a very good thing. I'm sure everybody will get in shape - unless there is just too much boodle showing up. ;)

Not to prick a bubble, but if you will check the profiles of other classes you will find that by every measure, 2009 is statistically indistinguishable from the last four or five classes. Go to http://www.usma.edu/Class/ for profiles of classes back to 1998.

This is in no way meant to diminish your pride, but 2005 was also told during Beast that they were "smartest and least fit," which seemed to be an excuse to smoke them at PT. Of course, they did go on to post the best competitive athletic record across all sports of any WP class in over a decade!

1062men+189women=1251 Class of 2009 profile seems right, no?

    Sumpergumby:

Your math is correct. USMA has corrected the Class of 2009 profile numbers. Originally, different, incorrect numbers were posted for the Class of 2009.
