seems a lot of entrants got 2008 spring...
    me too
I'm an international and I also worry about being left behind academically and I want to graduate with other classmates
MHC says that you can gain some credits in other institutions in US and transfer them when you enter MHC, it IS a solution if you're a US citizen
However, tha't not the one for me~hope it helps^ ^

but other than gaining credits from other institutions, what else can we do?Are there any books we can read to keep the pace with others?
Is there a winter school we can go to make up to the study?

i got spring...uh, super confused as to how i got in at all... i'm waiting to hear from Emerson (i got deferred from EA this fall, so i'm nervous...) and i would go there...but if not; definitely Mt. Holyoke. I plan on maybe going to DePaul University or UIC (depending on which'd be cheaper) for a semester...this is soo confusing!
I'd love to just take the semester off and travel around. Or join the Peace Corps...sigh.

UGh.....i dont like this spring thing, I think it should be an option for those who WANT it rather than force poeple to enter in spring that would be more delighted to go in the fall. I dont want to miss out too, The spring really doesnt fit me as a student. My College Counselor told me its hard and rarely done that spring admits be allowed to change back into the fall entrance.

So will you go Fridge_buzz and all upstairs?I am now between Clark and MHC,they have a lot in common, the same money,location,knit-tight environment. What else do you know in terms of academic reputation or things like that?

MHC is in a nicer part of the state than Clark - and you have cross registration at all those other great schools. I'd pick MHC over Clark, although I think both have very good reputations.

i'm definitely going...but i'm trying as hard as i can to move it up to Fall admittance.

Is it Spring because there was something lacking in our transcripts? Cause i think i only barely got into MHC...

I got regular admission in MHC and spring admission at Wheaton College at Norton, MA. I, too, felt like I barely got into Wheaton--even though my grades were above their average--so I can definitely identify with the feeling that you're second tier and such. That's how I felt for a week... I haven't made my final decision yet--I still have to do overnights at Smith and MHC-- but I would just say that you should try not to take the Spring Admission thing personally. MHC obviously wants you!!! Otherwise, they would have flat out rejected you. Just make the decision that's best for you...

Now I need to follow my own advice...

some questions here I want to discuss with you:

if moving thing won't work. Can I arrive one month earlier to take the January term?
I also want to take the summer couse.Do you think whether these two extra classes in the breaks and during the spring semester will help me catch up with my peers?
Can I apply for financial aid for those two extra classes,in January and summer?
    How much will they cost?
Will there be any opportunities to apply for stipend for the summer internships or research?

Here's some info from the MHC website:
    http://www.mtholyoke.edu/offices/dostdnts/orientation/spring/index.shtml

You can't take 2008 J-term classes but J-term credits don't count toward your degree anyway.

Check the MHC website.....many of your questions are answered there.

Summer courses are $1,065 per credit (most courses carry 4 credits!) and there is no regular financial aid available. It would be much cheaper to take classes at a community college during summer and transfer the credits those to MHC.
You could also consider attending a community college for the fall semester (that would involve some more paperwork with the visa but it's not that bad).

same here, but now i think it's not that depressing after asking several upperclass women who also enroll by spring semester and they are doing great! and it's possible to gain enough credits within 7 semester, that make me feel like heading to MHC spring entrance :)

Being admitted for Jan. has nothing to do with your transcripts. Holyoke wouldn't have admitted you if you weren?t eminently qualified. Middlebury College has the same program, except they?re called Feb Fresh. I had a friend that was a Feb Fresh.. He was a Choate prep school grad and graduated from Midd with honors. He was also admitted to the top law schools. So, as you can see, the brightest are admitted mid-term too :)

What's actually going on is available space. There are more qualified applications than dorm rooms. Holyoke enrolls a portion of the class mid-term b/c there will be more available beds in Jan. The jrs studying abroad for only second semester will be gone.
