My teacher gave me a failing grade without telling me I had a paper due ( I wasn't in school when it was assigned and there was no mention of it elsewhere....our class is really small and competitive...and nobody said a word when I asked them what I missed) in a non-sci class. She just killed my semester average. I tried to approach the admin about it, so did my parents...nobody wants to do anything about it............what should i do? I know I could have done that paper. Will colleges freka out when they see a random D?!

even if it's one class?! work ethic gets drained because the rest are A's and one random grade .......

thanks for laughing...seriously makes me feel better

did you talk to your counselor about it? i think its interesting how we all ask eachother these q's when we're all competing with eachother too.

but honestly, if you explain it in the add'l info space it might work out okay for you.

i would be really p-ssed off if i were you. that is, if you are telliong the whole story....hah.

    good luck though.

no duh i'm telling the whole story...

and let me get this out of the way now...we ask each other's opinions on here because it's a HELP forum.

Competing with each other....isn't it a little to late to start competing now? That would have been at the beginning of hs...now...we're pretty much set in stone except for a few places...

We should instead think of each other as potential future classmates....

i'd continue fighting until you get to atleast redo the assignment...If you knew your classmates were like that and so competitive, wouldn't it have been a smarter move to ask the teacher herself what you missed? I dunno you can't change anything now, but just for the future think about it. Don't just sit back and take that crap though. your teacher sounds completely unreasonable.

your teacher should give you an opportunity to do the paper...did you talk to her?
  • PipingHotTofuPipingHotTofu Registered User Posts: 572 Member
try as hard as you can, there's nothing much you can do now, except just fight with the administration and try to explain to the colleges...maybe in the additional information section on the common app supplements?

"wouldn't it have been a smarter move to ask the teacher herself what you missed "

She was the first one I asked....she seriously doesn't like me...she called me a doo-rag terrorist while I was asking her.....totally random and she had no reason to do that

I have been fighting with the admin as I said in my OP, it's just that they refuse to do anything. They say I'm being lazy and immature. I don't see how I am....it's freaking right there. I also provided them evidence of her entering my grades in wrong...and they only changed those around.

Even the board of edu is refusing to do much because she's an AP Grader too and for some reason that makes her untouchable or something....freakn lame

wow, the doo-rag terrorist thing is completely inappropriate for a teacher to say...i think u should keep pursuing this but if u can, have a note attached to ure transcript explaining this and have your cons. explain it in his/her rec, since this is just a paper grade chances are you can get at least a B for the semester. That's not terrible but at the same time I can't understand why she won't let you just do the paper.
