Does anyone have any experience with applying, auditioning or attending? My S, jazz piano, is interested in it. Thanks!

Kid auditioned last year for classical percussion - I'm happy to answer any questions in general about the application and the audition. It ended up being on our shortlist of choices when it came down to deciding.

@TomSrOfBoston probably has more direct experience with their jazz program and attendance...

Can't speak specifically to jazz piano, but Schulich is an excellent Music school, and historically Montreal is known for it's jazz. The Jazz Festival in the summer is a great.

57Special, thanks. I've always wanted to get to the Montreal Jazz Fest, I too hear its great and that the city has a good jazz scene. S just added McGill to his list.

My son has done a number of gigs in Montreal, including with some McGill grads and a McGill faculty member, and says it’s a great jazz scene there. (And says the McGill faculty member he played with was not only a terrific musician but a wonderful person as well.) Will be interested to hear what your son thinks of the school.
