Best way to spend the summer before college?

I'm curious how folks are planning to (or for current MT students, how you did), spend the last summer between high school and college? Relax and enjoy the last "free" summer? Summer intensives? Community theatre/summer stock? I think my D is looking for a break (I bet we all are at this point in the year, lol!), but I am curious whether there are advantages to getting a jump-start before autumn begins.

D did "one last" community show - which was really special b/c the bulk of the people in it were kids she had worked with for a number of years .... and there was a large number of seniors all heading to different BFA programs (BW, NYU, Otterbein). It was really special to do one last thing together.

My S did his last year of Stagedoor (very emotional!) and my D worked and did some volunteer work at a local theater (ushering and ticket sales - no acting). She wanted to make spending money for school!

You'll probably get a bunch of different answers to this one! My D worked at the summer theatre camp for the youth theatre program she'd grown up in and assistant directed a couple of youth shows after that. She wanted a break after audition year and her last high school show. I think she also wanted nights and weekends free to have fun with her high school friends before she headed 8 hours away where she knew no one!

My D worked about 25-30 hours/week at a diner, and I think otherwise relaxed. But she had taken a gap year so it's a bit different. Summer goes fast though!

D auditioned and was accepted for TPAP at Chicago Unifieds her senior year, and ended up spending a hunk of her summer in North Carolina before heading into her freshman year! (She LOVED TPAP by the way). Otherwise, she packed for college, went on a camping trip with us, took a lot of yoga classes... with TPAP - there wasn't enough summer left for anyone to hire her for a job.

D was in a U.S. Premiere Show (Professional) and then went to her last summer at Stagedoor (SO EMOTIONAL-GAH) and we hung out in NYC for a bit. Then she relaxed before heading across the country for school!
