Anyone else having problems with Roosevelt app?

My son applied 9/22 online for Roosevelt University. He sent his ACT scores to the university last spring after taking the test. I called today to make sure they matched up that ACT score with his recent online application. I was told there was no sign of my son's application in the system. I did print the verification when he was finished and I had submitted our credit card info for payment. I told the woman that my fee of $100 had been taken out of our bank account on 9/24 so they must have received the application. She then told me that the fee should only be $75 and that the $100 fee must be a mistake. When I asked about getting a refund, I was told that it would be applied to my son's account if he is accepted and if not then would be refunded. I told her I did not want to wait until April or May for a refund.

After finishing the application, the verification page had a checklist of things still to do and send. One was to request your audition. When I asked about requesting an audition, I was told he was supposed to fill out an audition request page as part of the online application. There was NO audition request page.

Has anyone else attempted an application at Roosevelt and encountered problems?

    AZKmom,

I see you are from SE Wisconsin....I am from S Wisconsin...so, not far from you.

Although I can not help you with your problems with Roosevelt, I can offer you a cyber pat on the back. This is not an easy process and then to have something like this happen makes it feel that much more stressful. Hang in there...I promise you the next few years will fly by and before you know it you will be in my situation...planning for post college years.

    Best,

I don't know if you've talked with people in admissions or the MT department, but you might try talking with an administrator in the MT department, we found that these people were very helpful and cleared up problems quickly. Just a thought.

    Good Luck

I also want to give you a hug. Please try to talk to someone either in the department or a higher up. Not only didn't they receive your son's app, they charged the wrong amount to your card and you deserve a refund now. If you do not see the auditon request page, you need to call them for further assistance.

I am not fond of online applications, but that is just me.

And so you don't feel alone on this.....I will relate that in my D's year, I lined up her audition appointment for CMU online (that is the only way to do it at CMU....but her app was a paper app, which is unrelated to lining up an audition at that particular school), within the very first hour that CMU audition appointments were allowed to be made online (that year it was early October by the time they set the site up and in fact, I learned within minutes that it had gone up due to handy dandy MT CCers!) So, I got our first choice for audition day and charged it online and printed out the confirmation and receipt. Then I proceeded to make air/hotel arrangements which were connected to an audition at PSU as well, and a rental car between the two. A couple of months later, I was checking online at CMU's site where they give you a personal account and they indicate if they have all the documents in your file and list any that are missing. Lo and behold, I see for my D's account that it says she has not lined up an audition appointment. It was like after the first of the year at that point. Her audition appointment, for which I had a receipt of payment and confirmation, was for their last audition day in Feb. and by then all our travel arrangements were paid and it was tied to another school audition trip. I called up and they had no record (and here I was on the ball to sign up within the first minutes they took appointments!). LUCKILY, I had the receipt and confirmation print out. The person was very nice at CMU and said if I had proof, I could fax it to her and we did. She honored the original appointment. My D was back on the books.

I won't go on to how they bungled the audition day process...(love the school....don't get me wrong!!)....but that also was quite messed up and not at all as arranged and involved missing flights and having to stay an extra night. I can tell that story later....LOL.

So, please know, we have all lived through this.....but in any case, call and speak to someone else at Roosevelt.

I found that with online apps. this happened more often than not, and I was charged more than once for some apps, and very frequently found that when I called to confirm (at each school) a week to a month before the audition, there was no record of her appt. I had read Soozievt's apt tale before, so I also had printed out confirmation, etc, and they were able to honor it. Moral of the story, don't be surprised if this happens. I actually found repeat submissions to be more the rule than the exception no matter how prestigious the school.
Good luck, and be glad you found it this early!
Btw, I also found that it took many weeks for the data to be entered into their registration system, so that migh be part of the problem, also.

So, if the school does not require you to submit your app online is it better to print and mail the applications? I'm interested to know if those who have mailed applications have experienced as many problems as those submitting the app online. We also live in SE WI and Roosevelt is one of the schools my d is applying to. I'd like to try to avoid this headache if possible.

Thanks for the kind words! It is all getting rather stressful with feeling the emotions of senior activites (end of cross country season, homecoming, etc.) and all the prep work going on for applications/auditions. Just wanted to update the situation.

The person I was originally speaking with was in the theatre conservatory at CCPA and she said she would try to contact admissions and the IT department to straighten things out. Apparently, the fee is currently $75 but will be going up to $100 in January sometime. She also told me it would only increase my stress level if I tried to contact them. I received a phone call from the Interim Assistant Dean for Enrollment and Student Services apologizing for the hassles and that he would follow up on everything. He has since emailed that a refund should be on the way soon and that the application has been located and everything is on track. Though in the email he kept referring to my son as "her" and "she". This all makes me nervous because my son has a rather common name and a first name that when shortened to the nickname could be a girl's name or boy's.

All in all, I think it is under control and hopefully will be okay for all other applications to follow!!
