^I see the scholarship offer on the website, but not a specific amount. Can you provide textual evidence to confirm the 7k?

that probably is an outright offer. When my son was NM, he got similar letters from several school - outright offers.

mom2collegekids, do you remember which colleges they were?

Some of the schools that gave outright offers...

    Fordham
    U central florida
    U of Alabama
    U of Oklahoma
    Birmingham Southern
    U of Southern Miss

are a few off the top of my head....

As a matter of fact, U of Southern Miss actually sent the offer a day or so before my son was formally told by his principal that he was a NMSF (my son found out in August - his principal didn't wait until the Sept date). I guess the universities see the lists of NMSF long before the public is told. So, when we got the letter from USM, it kind of let the cat out of the bag...LOL

If your child hasn't received any such offers, feel free to email their scholarship offices and ask them about their NM scholarships. Many of the colleges that automatically give NM scholarships will send you an offer if you just contact them and ask them about their NM scholarships. And, frequently, they'll include an application fee waiver.

^ Are those to be added to the compilation or to the informal list of "outright offers"? If the former, please provide links with textual evidence.

^ Any that are not already listed in the latest version of the compilation, and which you believe qualifies (at least full tuition, competitive or guaranteed).

The Kstate presidential scholarship was offered to me and it was 7k. Your right, their website doesnt tell you about the amount so i dont really know if its augmented by some other criteria but i would think they would at least provide that info. I tried e-mailing their finaid dept before it was offered to me but they never responded, so i cant be 100%

I know that Fordham U's NMF scholarship is not automatic. I don't have proof of that, but I have read several times on CC of kids who were NMF but did not get a full scholarship.

Fordham now requires that the student be in the top 10% of their class to get the NMF scholarship.

^"full tuition+" indicates that a school offers more than full tuition but less than a full ride.

    ^^^

Oh, I know...but I think including housing is a bit more than just "tuition+"

To me, Tuition+ looks like tuition plus 1 or 2 thousand dollars. Housing can mean about $7k each year to a student.

    Thanks for great list!

An update to info on University of Dallas: NMF full tuition & NMSF half tuition up to full tuition. I think it's competitive, based on wording below...

From U.D. website: "National Merit Finalists will receive a full tuition scholarship when they put UD as their first choice college with the National Merit Scholarship Corporation. This scholarship is inclusive of all other scholarships and grants offered through UD and is based on the competitiveness of the applicant pool. This scholarship is renewable annually."
