Because NYU attracts a plethora of Pre-med students it is extremely competitive in the science departments. The classes are doable, but if you are going to be a bio major, you will have to double up on science courses from the get-go and therein lies the problem. Each science, by itself, is doable. But 2 sciences, plus gen-ed requirements, plus a job if you want one, plus volunteering, umm, it's extremely challenging. I am pre-med at NYU, and I have got to say it is the hardest fete I have ever committed to. And believe me, I am used to hard work (never had a below an A- on a hs transcript, took all IB/AP classes plus community college classes, did volunteering + ECs, and held a part time management position at a movie theatre. I know hard work! haha).

But NYU is great! Its a tough cookie, but if you have your mind set on something, you will succeed here. Just don't expect anyone to hold your hand! :P

I hope this helps! If you have anymore ?'s about the pre-med/bio major stuff message me or reply.

I would be highly surprised if it wasn't competitive given how tough the poor Pre-Med kids have it. Intro to Biology seems to think making the students take a test the previous class averaged 40% in is a valid way to make people learn, if that gives you an idea. My boyfriend is making Bs and he's worried he won't be able to get into med school because of it, but we're hoping that NYU's name will give him a boost.
